Botanist's Harvest Renewing Face Serum

IMG_5954.JPG

+ about & ingredients

About: This is plant alchemy at it's finest, inspired by nature and some famous name-brand facial oils. Our serum soothes, refines, and rejuvenates skin using only real, raw plant extracts and essential oils with no artificial ingredients, additives or preservatives. Great for all skin types from dry to oily. This mildly-floral scented serum is full of natural anti-oxidants and wrinkle-fighting molecules. It's blended with anti-bacterial, non-comedogenic oils that do not clog pores and have been shown to improve skin condition. It quickly sinks into your skin leaving it soft and glowing. Compare to top-rated and high-priced facial oils.

Ingredients: organic oils blend (grapeseed oil, rice bran oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, jojoba oil, moringa leaf oil, argan oil, carrot seed oil, coffee bean oil, pomegranate seed oil, turmeric oil, rose hip extract, sea buckthorn oil) and DoTerra essential oil blend (frankincense, melaleuca, rosemary, tulsi, jatamansi, jasmine, ylang ylang, lemongrass, wild orange, german chamomile, blue tansy, lavender, bergamot, geranium, and melissa).

+ use & notes

Suggested use: place 0.5-1 dropper of oil onto finger tips and massage into face and around eyes in morning and evening. Can be used under other lotions and make-up. Great for women & men. For use with children, dilute 1:3 in a carrier oil such as olive, coconut, or jooba oil.

Notes: It can seem counter-intuitive to purposely put oils onto your face skin but clinical research and several millenia of use by people all over the world have proven that the oils are protective, healing, nourishing, anti-bacterial, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, and diminsh signs of scarring and frequency of break-outs and skin irregularities.

Putting healthy nourishing oils on your facial skin will not cause break-outs or make your skin too oily. Facial oils inhibit bacterial growth are readily absorbed by your skin. Face oils & serums make a great base layer under other lotions or make-up and protect your skin from night-time dryness. Facial oils are perfect for dry, patchy, or combination skin but also wonderful for naturally oily skin because the applied oils can help balance and reset normal facial oil production. Here is info on which oils are best for different skin types. Align Botanica's Botanist's Harvest Facial Serum uses many of these nourishing oils. These are the best (non-pore clogging (non-comedogenic) oils and product ingredients) . Here are some other thoughts on facial oils.

Herbal & Floral Facial Steams

IMG_5937.JPG

+ about & ingredients

About: These aromatherapeutic herbs multi-task for you, purifying facial pores, clearing your sinuses, lifting your mood, and relieving tension.

Ingredients: Facial steams are comprised of carefully chosen blends of dried, organic herbs and flowers, sometimes including organic, wild-grown or wild-foraged ingredients. During the steaming process, phytonutrients are released from the plants, providing anti-oxidants and vitamin-nourishment to the skin. The herbals & floral blends usually include lavender, lemongrass, sage, and nettle. Special blends may also include eucalyptus, chamomile, calendula, rose, rosemary, or mint. Select allergy-sensitive blends are also available and do not include potential, common allergens such as mint and nettle.

+ use & notes

Use: To use, first boil water in a pot of tea kettle. Locate a clean light-weight towel or linen scarf. Pour a pack of the herbs & dried flowers or approx 2-4 table spoons into the bottom of a large (12-15 inches diameter) mixing bowl (preferably glass, ceramic, or stainless steel). Then soak the herbs in boiling water (be careful, splashes can burn), slowly and carefully lean over the bowl and let the steam rise onto your face, make a tent over your head with the towel to enhance the steaming effect. Steam for 5-10 min or until water cools. After, splash cold water on face or apply a face mask of your choice.

Notes: While steaming, take short breaks if it gets to intense. Also close your eyes and breathe deeply to enhance the relaxing effect.

Minerals & Greens Detoxifying Face Mask

IMG_6579.JPG

+ about & ingredients

About: The Minerals & Greens Face Mask combiens the purifying power of koalin clay and activated charcoal with the detoxifying and anti-oxidant powerhouses, matcha green tea, moringa leaf & kelp. Every ingredient was carefully chosent to protect, clean, and nourish your skin, providing trace minerals to help build healthy skin cells and the clay and charcoal nanoparticles to gently exfoliate while attracting toxins, dirt, and oils out of your pores.

Ingredients: Kaolin clay, matcha green tea, moringa leaf, activated charcoal from coconuts, and kelp. Our ingredients are from plants and minerals, never synthetic, and raw, organic, food-grade, and sustainable sourced as much as possible.

+ use & notes

Use: Before masking, wash skin with water or soap and pat dry. Make a paste by mixing a small scoop (~1/8 teaspoon) of mask powder with water. If desired, the paste can also be made with your favorite tea or rose water and if you want more astringent properties you can mix with lemon water or witch hazel. It is not recommended to mix with an oil or creamy foods because this will inhibit the natural detoxifying activity of the clay.

Mix the paste in a small ceramic or glass dish/bowl and use fingers or a facial brush applicator to gently apply mask to entire face or regions where you would like more detoxifying activity such as nose, chin, and forhead. Avoid eye area and getting into eyes.

Let mask sit on skin until it feels dry or you can see cracks/wrinkles in the mask in the mirror. Your skin may feel itchy or stretched as the clay dries, this is normal and if it bothers you, simply rinse early, the clay’s detoxifying effects are still active. You can also apply the mask before getting into the shower and rinse off after letting it rest for at least 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water or face soap.

Papaya Exfoliant & Cleansing Grains

fullsizeoutput_27cc.jpeg

+ about & ingredients

About: This skin-renewing mask is a multi-purpose powerhouse, providing gentle chemical exfoliation with fruit enzymes and gentle physical exfoliation with micro-textured rice bran particles (kind of like nature's "microbeads").

Ingredients: brown rice bran, green papaya extract, baking soda, turmeric root powder

+ use & notes

How to Use: Make a paste by mixing a small scoop (1/4-1/2 teaspoon) of cleansing grains with water. Mix in a small ceramic or glass dish and use fingers or a facial brush applicator to apply mask. Massage into face and neck using circular motion, repeat massage a few times for more exfoliation.

Rinse off immediately or after 5 min. Splash water, shower or use a wash cloth.

Notes This mask can be applied to dry or wet sking, with or without pre-cleaning. The mask's ingredients are natural cleansers.

Skin may tingle lightly due to the fruit enzymes exfoliation. If it is uncomfortable, simply rinse, the exfoliator will still be effective even if you don't leave it on longer than it takes to massage into skin.

To bring additional skin nurturing qualities to this facial mask, instead of water you could make a paste with your favorite tea, or with olive oil, raw honey, avocado, or plain greek yogurt.
